ArtsAbroad curated a 6-day tour to Lisbon for members of a New York based non-profit arts organisation. The tour delved into Portugal’s architectural, cultural and culinary heritage, with exclusive visits to museums, galleries, palaces, and private collections. The group was welcomed by museum directors and top curators throughout, and enjoyed special access to venues not usually open to the public.
Admiring the city’s mix of old-world patina, alongside modern design, was a consistent highlight, with visits to iconic institutions such as the Museu Nacional de Azulejo and Museu Calouste Gulbenkian; interspersed with dynamic contemporary landmarks including the new reopened MATT (Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia), the Museu de Arte Contemporânea and the state of the art, MACAM (Museu de Arte Contemporânea Armando Martins). The group also enjoyed tours and receptions at two remarkable baroque palaces, providing the perfect backdrop for enjoying Portugal’s rich culinary traditions and wine culture.
