Acquisition Committee members of one of Britains’ leading art institutions embarked on a 4-night tour to Morocco to discover the ever-evolving contemporary art scene.
Commencing in the energetic capital, Marrakech, the itinerary was centred around the 1-54 Art Fair. The group enjoyed exclusive access to events and shows, as well as artist-arranged private previews, all while indulging in the culinary delights of the North African region. Travelling to the north in Tangier, the group checked into the exquisite 5-star Fairmont Tazi Palace. Here they were warmly welcomed by central figureheads of unique artist-led projects who provided an insight into alternative, collaborative and sustainable means of artistic production. This was an opportunity to witness current, convention-bending art at its inception.
The tour was carefully curated to highlight the burgeoning network of contemporary art galleries, artist studios, and collective communities in Morocco, ultimately extending these collaborations to across the globe.
